A Lazy Movement
Sure, I’ll defend my laziness
Sure, I’ll defend my laziness, but only because I enjoy doing so… and please remember I am not perfect in all things. Whether that’s in my defense or in the actual doing of the abhorrent act of laziness itself. Did you know the line is not so fine?
I’m here to tell you that being lazy is not a bad thing. It’s not a nasty word.
I may tip-toe here, it’s still a bit of a challenge to say this with conviction, but it’s becoming clear that one vestigial belief that plagues us all is that laziness is a dirty word.
To be lazy is to be “unwilling to work or use energy”, so says Dictionary.com. Or how about this one from Wikipedia,
“Laziness is the disinclination to activity or exertion despite having the ability to act or exert oneself. It is often used as a pejorative…”
Where in the actual definition is the implication that it is a bad thing? Not until the end, where it states that people often use it that way… and usage is what matters.
So, I want to take it back. I like being lazy. What have we done to this beautiful state of being??
Easily identifiable success seems to come from the opposite of lazy… but what if we need the insights that are products of laziness?
