Enjoyed reading your take! My ex is in a relationship with a woman 18 years his junior (who he moved in with the day after our divorce was finalized 2 years ago). Our 2 teens (16yo daughter, 14yo son) still have a difficult time with it. About a year ago, I started dating a man 11 years younger than myself and I am very open with my kids about discussing the unconventionality of it, the way we might be viewed, as well as the beauty of finding and working to build a wonderful growth-minded relationship with another person. I still make mistakes and have parenting fails, lol. But one thing I notice is that differing life stages of the partners can create huge challenges for all involved, especially if there is no discussion or acknowledgement of the age gap.
