Okay, so if one is interested in working to build the eco-socialism movement, how do we do that?

Here's where I'm coming from... I'm a left-leaner dating a right-winger who comes from a hard-right family. Bf and I have a hell of a time discussing issues.

I have the desire and make the time to find more information than he does (that's just a statement of fact- and as a consequence, in the framework of his worldview, is to my detriment- so I'm not at all attaching arrogance or superiority to that statement).

We are regular people. We are both saying the same thing, in the simplest terms- "they are trying to control you". We both believe that thing, but about the "other" side.

I am truly stuck. I love this man and his family. I didn't understand what family means until I became a part of one. I don't get how they can believe what they do (and vice versa- I can see it in his face, as I'm sure he can see it in mine)

So, I go seeking for more information. So far, I haven't found a way to bridge our divide- but your article is one of a few in the last week that has been eye-opening for me. Thank you for that (and serendipity).

I want to digest this more before commenting, but don't want to lose it and forget... so, taking your article whole-cloth, what is our next step toward eco-socialism? The more I learn about who I want to be, the better prepared I am to ask questions and understand who my boyfriend wants to be.

This is not about me being "right" or having "the answer" (because we both believe we are right, right? haha)

It's about trying to find a better way for him and I to communicate when it comes to these issues... and I think you've armed me well in the moment. I have a stronger sense of who I am, but also a new (to me) direction to search for solutions.
