Sabotage!

An Evening of procrastination

Okay, so my particular brand of procrastination pisses me off. My goal this week was to write about an idea every day. Put it away for a week, and then the next week on that day, come back to it, cite my sources, edit, proofread, and publish. Well, I thought about what I should write today. Kept putting it off. Did lots of reading and YouTube watching for inspiration. Got caught up in the news.

When I initial info-seek on YouTube, I have a hard time sitting still. So, I play this Wild Tangent game called The Legend of El Dorado. The free version. I have the full version, but it’s not as mindless to play. Playing the free version, now that’s like using yet another fidget widget- keeps me busy enough that I can focus.

Nothing was sparking in me, and that was a pretty good excuse to keep browsing for interesting topics on YouTube. Mind you, the day was now growing thin- the work day even thinner- and soon my time would be slotted as mother and girlfriend. I told myself later tonight I will get it done.

I returned to my kitchen table with a few hours to spare before the day turned… and promptly went to El Dorado. As I’m playing, watching the time go by, I told myself that I still had 3 hours… then 2 hours… then down to an hour. Sabotage!
