Thank you for this! Here's something interesting I experienced... was talking about the abortion debate with the bf. I said what if my daughter needed or desired to end a pregnancy? We'd have to travel to another state to do that- and we would be able to do that. He said, well, she would get what she needed. I said yeah, she would- because she has us, and we have resources. But what about all the girls and women who don't have those resources? Who are in even less of a position to birth and raise a child??
He looked at me like it was a light bulb moment.
It was like that thought had never occurred to him.
I just wonder if that's how it is- the thought to be empathetic or caring toward an outgroup member doesn't even cross the mind.
