Yeah, sorry, but religion is such a useful tool for those who wield it... the number of anti-abortion atheists (or none's) is tiny and would not inhibit the majority rule here in the US. We are losing this right (the right of bodily autonomy) exclusively because of the coupling of religion and power in our government. So, yeah, it is a religious issue. They have to use it to keep control. That's precisely why those in power are scrambling to place their people in as many positions of power they can now- they are losing their power because the people are losing religion.

Take religion out of it, and how would they maintain their power? What unites a side more than religious righteousness? How could they fear-monger as successfully if the people see through the greatest myth of them all?
